THE BOX:

blending independent study, social hours, and creative classes into one out of the box space!

What is The Box?

The Box (Homeschool) is an out-of-the-box enrichment space for homeschool families. We are part study hall, part social hour, part creative studio. Students can work at their own pace, connect with friends, and explore new interests with our teachers and learning coaches.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. Students should be able to work independently on their tasks.

Every 40-50 minutes, learning coaches encourage “stretch breaks” for students to (at minimum) stand up and stretch. This is not a requirement or guided stretch, but a moment to check in, chat and make sure students who need to pause have a moment to do so.

  • The Box does not serve lunch.

Students are welcome to bring their own non-refrigerated snacks. The Box also has an affordable snack bar available to students and parents.

  • Students should bring school work that they can work on independently, that can also fit in a standard sized bookbag.

Students are also encouraged to bring a simple paper activity (word search, sketchbook, novel, etc) in the event they complete their work before their parent returns/end of drop off.

  • If a parent indicates that their student’s schoolwork is on a device, they are permitted to bring a laptop, iPad, etc. The Box will need the approved website(s) and/or apps the student will need to access to complete their work.

All students, especially students with devices, are encouraged to bring a simple paper activity (sketchbook, novel, etc) in the event they complete their work before their parent returns/end of drop off.

    Two notes from our handbook:

    1. Students with devices must bring headphones with them.

  • We welcome students of all backgrounds, families and experiences to join us at The Box!

Our founders and teachers are all a part of the Christian Faith and often incorporate Christian themes into conversation on our Tuesday classes.

When background music is played throughout The Box, especially on Mondays and Wednesdays. It is often instrumental lo-fi as well as Gospel and Christian music.

  • The Wonder Space is a music and creative studio, assisting artists and brands in audio, visual and social media.

The Box Homeschool is a client of The Wonder Space for all graphics, social media and visuals - like what you’re looking at right now :)

  • Our learning coaches are available to support students, but they are not classroom teachers or private tutors.

Coaches can help students get settled, read and understand instructions, stay on task, and offer light guidance or encouragement as students work through their assignments.

  • The Box has separate study rooms organized by age

    • Kids - 7–9 year olds

    • Tweens - 10–12 year olds

    • Teens - 13+

Each study room is supervised by our learning coaches.

Instead of sorting students by grade level, we group them by age, so an 8-year-old in 6th grade, for example, will join the study room that matches their age range.

  • Possibly! For students who are not yet 7 years old, we ask that a parent or guardian schedules a brief meeting with our team.

This gives us a chance to learn more about your child, understand their current learning needs, and see whether The Box is a good fit for them at this time. Together, we’ll decide what level of participation makes the most sense so your student can feel supported and successful in our space.
